United 1 - 2 Chelsea

Howard rooted to the spot

Chelsea MUST NOT win the quadruple and beat the record set by United (1999 Treble). Tim Howard however, failed to realise that, and gifted Chelsea the winner in the 88th minute. While Jose Mourinho played his strongest possible line-up, Fergie decided to drop Rooney and played a 4-5-1 and crowded the midfield ala Bolton, Palace, etc.

The plan backfired however, as Chelsea stormed to a 1-0 lead through Lampard and had numerous chances to kill of the game. A wonderful goal by Giggs kept us in the game. Extra-time was looming until a Damien Duff free-kick from the touchline eluded everyone including Howard and bounce into the roof of the net. John O'Shea had warned us about his compatriot but it looks like no one listened.

No one listened to me !

I wanted us to win not because the Carling Cup is the main priority, but to prevent Chelsea from winning all 4 trophies and putting a psychological dent on Chelsea's morale.

I wont be saying this often, but lets hope Liverpool win on the 27th of February
